Clipping Chicken Wings

We expanded our chicken coop, but the new coop has no top on it like our old one did, so we had to clip our chickens wings so they couldn't get out.

We had never done this before, so we did some quick research online and found it was really quit simple.

You just have to make sure you only clip the feathers on ONE side. The point is to make bird uneven for flying, like a plane with only one wing.

Now the ladies can enjoy their new enlarged coop.

We didn't clip Hank and Bonnies wings, they are happy as long as they have their pond.

Expanding Our Chicken Coop

So we have decided to expand our chicken coop, have been talking about it for a while. I LOVE this expanded coop because the chickens are so much fun to watch, and now I can even see them from inside the house!

They catch a bug and take off running! We moved our duck pound over so we can watch them too.

Geocache

So a couple of weekends ago we headed up to Idaho Springs in the mountains to go Geocaching.

If you haven't tried this, it's lots of fun and free!
On the way up we drove by this famous house--looks like a flying saucer!

Geo Cache is an out-door treasure hunting game. There are Caches hidden all over the world, so everone can participate.

The drive up

Preparing to go up and find our treasure.

We used the GPS on our phone and attempted to find the cache

we walked up and down this hill and couldn't find it,

so we decided to eat our picnic, regroup and try again......

and FINALLY ......

SUCCESS! It took us about 2.5 hours to find the cache, but we all agreed it was a great time!
We had such a feeling of accomplishment once we finally found it, we signed the log, and got a Hello Kitty sticker out of the cache and left a pink $100 dollar bill!

Little Pumpkin was worn out as we drove home!

Great family day!
