Frugal Friday

Zaycon Foods offers bulk meat at a great price. The boneless skinless chicken breast is $1.69/lb. I am ordering enough for 6 months. I will freeze about 2/3 of what I buy and can the rest. Little Pumpkin LOVES canned chicken and it's far less expensive to can your own than to buy it already canned.

I have ordered chicken and ground beef from them in the past. You just have to be aware that the meat is in bulk packaging so be prepared to repackage it into meal size packages. In other words you can't just bring it home and pop it into the freezer or you will end up with a 40 pound chickensicle. However, for me, feeding a family of 6, this is a great price and hopefully it will help me save on my grocery budget in the long run.

Frugal Friday

This weeks tip is to dedicate one shelf in your fridge to leftovers or foods that need to be eaten. Hopefully this will help you avoid those science experiments, and save money!

Frugal Friday

What frugal thing did you do this week? I made my budge. I know spreadsheets are boring (I like them, I know, I'm odd!) I have made a road-map for the year.  I am sure that things will come up and I may not be able to follow my budget, but at least I have a plan.

Failing to plan is planning to fail.

2015 Year End Review

Last year was filled with some highs and lows.

Handsome Husband got a new job, which he loves and it pays more money, plus the benefits are awesome!

Thoughtful Son is a senior in high school, so you know this is a super busy year for him! Senior pics, graduation, plus he is in technical school while also taking high school classes. Additionally he works part time.

The Artist stays busy on her crafting and is getting ready for high school next year, she will be a Junior. The time flies way too fast! We got her craft area pretty organized last year.

Little Pumpkin is getting so grown up! She loves animals and being outdoors. She is learning to write this year.

Baby Girl is talking up a storm and getting bigger every day. She had a real bad case of croup and ended up staying  several days in the Children's Hospital-Thank YHWH for Hubby's new job with the great insurance. She is nearly weened, which gives me mixed feelings-happy and a little sad too.

I work part-time and have been very neglectful of my blog, sorry. It seems like it takes me about 2 years to recover after having a baby, and I am starting to feel like myself again. I love my babies and enjoy the time I get with them, but they take a lot out of me! Now that she is "toddling" and nearly weened things are a bit less hectic.

Things have gotten a bit hectic, I feel like our budget is out of control right now, so I have been working the last few days on the general budget outline for the year, budgeting my "debt snowball". We are planning to pay off tons of stuff this year.

I have ordered baby chickens to get a jump start on eggs this summer. We are down to 1 chicken and 2 goats. The chicken is super funny and likes to ride the goats (well mostly Boots). I will have to get a picture, it is funny! We are down to milking just one of our goats right now and are expecting new babies in April.

Receiving Blankets

Oh my, where has the time gone! It seems with the addition of baby girl that things have been so hectic. I can't believe she is almost 17 months old!

It's nice to have a blog to look back and see all that has happened.

Here are some baby blankets I have been making for 2 of my coworkers and my husbands coworker.  They are 2 layers of flannel so they are super soft and warm and so durable!

I have some from when I was pregnant with Little Pumpkin (over 5 years ago) and I still use them on Baby Girl ALL THE TIME. They are my "go-to" blankets, they are perfect for nursing covers, car seat covers and blankets, and just plain blankets.

Red and Blue Firetrucks, Cars, Helicopters, etc. with cute matching spotted blue.

I added 2 straight rows of red/white top-stitching.

I love the greens and blues in this! Robots, aliens and space with coordinating chevron backing.

Cute pink, blue and green butterflies with coordinating spotted back. I love all the different embroidery fabrics available!

If you are interested we have matching blankets in our etsy store.
